Both functions are used to find the position of a character or word within text.

FIND

Syntax

=FIND(find_text,within_text,[start_num])

Example

A2 = saroj@gmail.com

=FIND(“@”,A2)

Result: 6

FIND is generally case-sensitive.

SEARCH

=SEARCH(find_text,within_text,[start_num])

Example

=SEARCH(“gmail”,A2)

Result: 7

SEARCH is case-insensitive.
