Calculated Column
A Calculated Column calculates a value for every row.
Example:
=Sales[Quantity]*Sales[Unit Price]
Result:
|
Quantity |
Unit Price |
Sales Amount |
|
2 |
60000 |
120000 |
|
3 |
50000 |
150000 |
When to use
Use a calculated column when the result needs to exist at the individual-row level.
Measure
A Measure calculates a result dynamically based on the current filter context.
Example:
Total Sales :=
SUM(Sales[Sales Amount])
If a PivotTable is filtered to Sirsa, the measure calculates sales for Sirsa automatically.
Important Difference
Calculated Column → Row-level calculation
Measure → Dynamic aggregation
Practice
Create:
- Sales Amount calculated column
- Total Sales measure
