Explanation
The Table feature in Excel converts a normal data range into a structured table. Tables make data easier to organize, filter, format and analyze.
Topics Covered
- Creating a Table
- Table Styles
- Total Row
- Structured References
Key Concepts
Creating a Table: Select your data and use Insert → Table.
Table Styles: Apply ready-made formatting to make the table easier to read.
Total Row: Adds a summary row at the bottom of the table for calculations such as Sum, Average and Count.
Structured References: Excel uses table and column names in formulas instead of traditional cell references.
Example
If your table is named SalesData, a formula can refer to a column such as:
=SUM(SalesData[Sales])
This makes formulas easier to understand and maintain.
