Part A — Protect Workbook
Protect Workbook helps protect the workbook structure.
It is useful for preventing users from making unwanted changes to the worksheet structure.
Example
The workbook contains:
- Employees
- Sales
- Expenses
- Dashboard
After protecting the workbook structure, users can be prevented from adding, deleting, renaming, or moving worksheets, depending on the protection settings.
Part B — Allow Users to Edit Ranges
This feature is useful when you want to keep specific ranges editable in a protected worksheet.
Example
|
Range |
Status |
|
B2:B20 — Employee Name |
Editable |
|
C2:C20 — Department |
Editable |
|
D2:D20 — Salary |
Editable |
|
E2:E20 — HRA Formula |
Protected |
|
F2:F20 — Total Salary |
Protected |
In this way, selected input ranges can remain editable even when the entire worksheet is protected.
Practice
Create an Employee Salary Worksheet and:
- Keep input cells editable.
- Keep formula cells protected.
