Explanation

IFS checks multiple conditions and returns the result for the first TRUE condition.

It is useful when there are several categories instead of only TRUE/FALSE.

Syntax

=IFS(logical_test1,value1,logical_test2,value2,…)

Example — Student Grades

Student

Important Point

Arrange conditions from highest to lowest when using ranges like grades.

Practice

Create a 5-level performance classification:

  • 90+ → Excellent
  • 75–89 → Very Good
  • 60–74 → Good
  • 40–59 → Average

Below 40 → Needs Improvement
