Explanation

You can group related rows together.

Steps

  1. Select the rows you want to group.
  2. Go to Data → Group.
  3. Select Rows if prompted.
  4. Excel creates an outline.

A − button appears beside the grouped rows.

Clicking − collapses the group.

Clicking + expands it again.

Example

Month

Sales

January

40,000

February

45,000

March

48,000

Group these three rows.

The detailed rows can then be collapsed to show a more compact report.
